  • Scope: the “Altiplano Central” (Oruro-Poopo region): work around a peatland

– Water resources and hydroecology (partnership with Catedra UNESCO / C. Molina)

– Geogenic & mining activities: impact on water & ecological quality

– Mining & agriculture (quinoa and potatoes): interconnection & perceptions

– Historical reconstruction (peat record) & ancient societies (Archeology @ Palaspata)

  • Main outstanding scientific question: how can we describe/characterize a complex socioecosystem through the observation of a single object (peatland)
  • Student selection criteria and grants:

– Followers of the 3 days of online workshop & exchanges

– Cover letter, scope and grade of the student

– Open to the entire Altiplano (but main support for Bolivian students)

– Grants: 2 to 5 grants by LMI + possible grants from INQUA
